Raquel Diaz, MA, CPLC-Certified Professional Life Coach & Brainspotting Practitioner

Hi, I am Raquel.

I am a Cerfified Professional Life Coach & Brainspotting Practitioner at CCHTX!

I look forward to supporting individuals who struggle with: anxiousness & worry, lack of motivation, trauma, mindfulness & emotion regulation, issues around self-worth/self-esteem, and premarital/relationship issues. I am super excited to be on the Curious Conversations team, but I’m most excited to work with YOU!

My Story.

I am a native Houstonian, with a 10 year background in Business. From a very early age, I was always drawn to the idea of starting my own business. So when I grew up, I followed the business path, studied it, and eventually got the “business job” I had always dreamed of. What I hadn’t realized is that starting a business and working in business are two very different things. During that point in life I felt incredibly BORED, unmotivated, and felt like I wasn’t living up to my potential. It was when I slowed down and payed attention to my inner world, that I finally found the thing that excited me and gave me a real sense of purpose. I have always been a philosopher at heart; a curious, open minded, seeker of truth. I take pride in the fact that people naturally gravitate toward me for support, because I am a great listener who offers a judgement free perspective. Becoming a therapist is the most natural integration of these qualities.

I discovered Brainspotting during my counseling internship while earning my master’s degree, and it completely changed the way I see healing. My supervisor, a true master of the technique, introduced me to this powerful approach, and I instantly fell in love. What drew me in most is how Brainspotting gives clients full autonomy, helping them rebuild trust in their bodies and themselves. When we can trust our bodies, we can make choices that align with who we truly are and stand confidently in our truth (rather than making choices from a subconscious place of hurt). Honoring the connection we have to ourselves has always been a core part of my philosophy, so finding a model that mirrors that felt like coming home.

Brainspotting with Raquel, MA, CPLC

My Brainspotting areas of interests include:

  • Gender exploration

  • Pre- and post-operative support

  • Anxiousness & worry

  • Self-esteem & confidence

  • Sex issues & sexual orientation

Every area I focus on comes from a place of experience, empathy, and genuine passion. My best friend is a trans woman, and I’ve had the honor of walking beside her through gender-affirming care, surgeries, and her journey toward confidence and self-love. I also have deep experience supporting clients who face specific fears, often rooted in childhood or generational trauma. I personally live with panic attacks and anxiety disorder and can personally attest to the power of Brainspotting, as it has been profoundly healing for me. These are some of the reasons behind my passion for Brainspotting and creating a safe, empowering space where others can heal and grow, too.

More about me.

As an introvert, I find grounding in life’s quieter moments, tending to my plants, watching the slow movement of the clouds, or gazing at the stars. These moments remind me that growth unfolds in its own time, and healing is rarely linear. I bring this same understanding into my clinical work, respecting the natural rhythm of your process and honoring the emotions that arise along the way.

On weekends, you might find me connecting with my coworkers, going to karaoke bars, and screaming to my favorite Beyoncé songs. My all-time favorite Bey song is Resentment, because name one person who hasn’t felt resentful at some point.

My beloved Beagle, Sundae, holds a truly special place in my life. At eleven years young, she embodies the perfect blend of intelligence, sweetness, and a touch of delightful spice! (By that I mean stubbornness). Her presence and unconditional love enrich my life immeasurably.

My philosophy? Real connection is the magic, but it’s not instant. It’s more like growing a wild garden. You plant seeds, water them with time and energy, and sometimes you’ve got to pull a few weeds (like your ego) to make room for the good stuff. It’s built one brick, one awkward laugh, one deep talk at a time. And life? It’s a giant, beautiful paradox, full of weird twists and endless complexities. The key is embracing those bittersweet paradoxes. Want to explore how? I’m all ears.
